What's a fuscata?

I manage several servers at the Monkeyclaus Music Studio. I chose monkey species as the naming scheme. The list includes 'badius' and 'papio', but this first server was called 'fuscata' after the snow monkey, Macaca fuscata. The word 'fuscata' apparently comes from the Latin for 'brown.' (As it turns out, it's also a species of sea slug.)

Projects

The Monroe Institute: Worpress, WPMU, Magento, Elgg, Vanilla and MediaWiki integration/SSO

When The Monroe Institute wanted to upgrade their existing store and research archive and add social networking features, they hired Bluewall Media. In the spirit of collective consciousness, the plan was to use existing open source software applications: Wordpress/WPMU, Magento e-commerce, Elgg social network, Vanilla forums and MediaWiki. Bluewall turned to Fuscata to handle the complex task of integrating these applications. We developed a single sign-on (SSO) and software management system, called Overlord, to accomplish this.

Bluewall Dev System: Subversion, WebSVN, DokuWiki and Mantis integration/SSO

To help manage several massive projects at Bluewall, Fuscata created a development system based around Subversion source code control, Mantis issue tracker and DokuWiki documentation wiki. The Subversion repositories are viewable via WebSVN and commits to the repository are automatically deployed to the testing server. WebSVN, Mantis, DokuWiki and a file repository all share the same login credentials allowing project members to move seamlessly between the components. In preparation for a new release, Subversion and BASH scripts are used to update the staging server for testing, and a similar process updates the production server.

Planet Waves: Customer Database and E-commerce

Planet Waves hired Fuscata to move their existing FileMaker-based customer database to the Web, create a custom E-commerce system and integrate the two with DadaMail, which they use to deliver subscription based content.

PedCath: Visual Basic Medical Database

Fuscata wrote version 7 of PedCath in VB6 for Scientific Software Solutions. PedCath is a mission critical multiuser medical database and graphical reporting software. Version 7 was a complete redesign of an existing VB3 application.
